## What is OSHA 30-Hour General Industry?

OSHA 30 General Industry is the most complete course in OSHA's Outreach Training Program for non-construction workplaces. It goes beyond hazard recognition and teaches supervisors how to **run safety**: inspecting, correcting, documenting, and leading a team that works safely when no one is watching.

## What the course covers

- **Introduction to OSHA** and **managing safety and health programs**
- **Walking-working surfaces** and fall protection
- **Exit routes, emergency action plans, fire prevention,** and fire protection
- **Electrical safety** and **personal protective equipment**
- **Hazard communication** and industrial hygiene basics
- **Lockout/tagout** (control of hazardous energy)
- **Machine guarding** and **powered industrial trucks**
- **Permit-required confined spaces**
- **Ergonomics**, **bloodborne pathogens**, **welding and cutting**, and **recordkeeping**, depending on electives

Several of these, including lockout/tagout, machine guarding, forklifts, and hazard communication, appear on OSHA's [most-cited standards list](https://oshawithzahid.com/guides/most-cited-osha-standards.html) every year. That's why supervisors who understand them save their companies money.
